Jersey Self-Defence

Brand, website and campaign support for a local self-defence provider

Jersey Self Defence needed a clearer brand and digital platform to promote classes, trial sessions, courses and workshops to people looking for practical self-defence training in Jersey.

The project focused on moving the business away from a narrow martial arts identity and towards a clearer, more accessible self-defence message — supported by a refreshed brand, new website, course pages, content and Google Ads.

Project overview

Jersey Self Defence provides practical self-defence training for adults, women, children, teens, businesses and private groups.

The website needed to make the offer easier to understand, with clearer routes for people interested in weekly classes, trial sessions, 8-week courses, women’s self-defence, kids and teens sessions, corporate staff safety and specialist workshops.

My role was to help refine the brand, structure the website, build campaign-ready pages and support local visibility through content and Google Ads.

The Challenge

The business needed a clearer public-facing identity and a website that could support different types of enquiry without overwhelming visitors.

Key areas to improve included:

  • Refreshing the brand and visual identity
  • Making the self-defence offer more accessible
  • Creating clearer routes for adults, women, kids, teens and corporate enquiries
  • Supporting course sign-ups and trial sessions
  • Building pages that could work for Meta, Google Ads and local search
  • Keeping the tone practical, confident and easy to understand
  • Creating a stronger base for ongoing content and campaign activity

The Approach

The brand and website were shaped around practical self-defence outcomes rather than martial arts terminology, helping the offer feel clearer and more accessible to a wider local audience.

The site was structured around the main enquiry routes: adults, women, kids and teens, trial sessions, 8-week courses, corporate training and specialist workshops. This made it easier for visitors to find the right option and understand what to do next.

Course and campaign pages were built with clear calls to action, supporting both organic enquiries and Google Ads traffic.

The visual style, copy and content were kept direct, confident and practical — reflecting the training while making the business feel approachable for people who may be nervous about getting started.

The Result

Jersey Self Defence now has a clearer, more professional platform for promoting self-defence training across different audiences and enquiry types.

The refreshed brand and website make the training easier to understand, while focused course pages and calls to action help support trial sessions, course sign-ups and corporate enquiries.

With Google Ads and content support added around the site, Jersey Self Defence has a stronger foundation for local visibility, campaign activity and ongoing promotion.

  • Clearer self-defence positioning
  • Stronger brand identity
  • More accessible website structure
  • Dedicated routes for different audiences
  • Campaign-ready course and trial session pages
  • Better foundation for Google Ads and local search
